In the foothills of the mountain range known as the Cordillera Volcanica Central, on the Atlantic seaboard, lies Sueño Azul, a tropical private reserve with over 2500 acres of rain forest, waterfalls, rivers, streams and lakes, idyllic pastures and a 58-room lodge which provides a gateway to explore and connect with nature, to relax and to replenish your sense of well-being.

The property borders Braulio Carrillo National park which in turn forms part of the Cordillera Volcanica Central Biosphere Reserve which encompasses four national parks, two forest reserves, six protected zones and a national monument. The proximity of Sueño Azul to such important natural areas provides unique opportunities to encounter many species of flora and fauna. It is truly a unique wilderness area and only one hour and twenty minutes from San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.

Opportunities abound to experience adventure, relaxation, and communion with nature. Hike our many kilometers of jungle trails, take a dip in our waterfall pools and river beaches and ponds, and enjoy horseback riding and tubing down the San Rafael River. All of this can be done right on our property. But the Sarapiqui region also offers great attractions close to Sueño Azul such as white-water rafting on the Sarapiqui River.
